Sterile Siphon Starter

Postby jwible204 » Fri Jun 20, 2014 8:43 am

I didn't know this existed until I was reading Brulosopher's blog post about it. I have always used an auto-siphon and have never had any issues with it. However, it's always bugged me about much plastic surface area there is with it. Every 2 weeks or so I do a Oxy or PBW soak with it to ensure there aren't any nasties on it. This has proved to be working as I haven't had any infections (maybe 1) over the 4.5 years I've been brewing. But this sterile siphon is so simple to operate and only a small plastic piece that contacts the wort (besides the vinyl tubing).

I might buy one despite the fact that I just replaced my auto-siphon last week.
